Maryland Foot & Ankle Associates is one of the first practices in the DC metropolitan area to incorporate the latest computer technology to fabricate orthotics (custom arch supports). We have partnered with PedAlign to offer our patients the most technologically advanced system available.

This technology allows us to capture the shape and contour of the foot for the best treatment results and the highest quality orthotics. It is much more accurate and reliable than information captured by stepping onto a mat or pressing the foot into a foam box.
PedAlign is the only infrared optical scanning system that uses true foot contours and arch height measurements in order to produce a high-quality orthotic. The digital cast combined with a prescription is electronically transmitted to the lab where the PedAlign technicians decode, analyze and evaluate the information prior to orthotic fabrication. This means your orthotics can be ready for you in days rather than weeks.
We use the interactive display monitor to discuss your pathology, superimpose bone structure, and pinpoint cutout accommodations. The system can generate a plantar pressure reading similar to a Pedobarograph report to actually show where pressure distribution is uneven. This can be useful for our athletes, diabetic patients, and post-surgical patients to aid us in treating your problem and preventing its recurrence or new problems. |
